Health (offered 2024-2025)
Health is an important concept to understand as our lives and environments change, especially for middle school students. In this class we’ll discuss a variety of different physical health concepts from healthy eating, exercise, and sleep habits, to learning about our emotional health and managing stress and difficult emotions. We’ll discuss social media and its effects on our health, as well as the importance of nurturing relationships. This class will also discuss mental health: ways we can recognize it, have compassion for others, and discover tools to help us overcome challenges in our lives. With this, we’ll also discuss the systems in our bodies that help us function at optimal performance. There will be many hands-on activities, and at-home activities, that hopefully will help all students be more aware of their personal needs, the needs of those around them, and have a desire to balance their emotional and physical health, so they can have joy amidst changes around them.
