Earth Science (offered 2025-2026)
During class we will explore the earth and all its many distinct features from the chemistry of rocks and minerals below our feet, to the unique physical features on the surface of our planet. We'll study tectonic plates, talk about earthquakes, and explore earth's energy in the form of renewable and non-renewable resources. We'll discuss weathering and formation of soil, erosion and deposition, and then discuss earth's oceans and tides, freshwaters and rivers, and our impact on these different aspects of earth science. We'll then discuss ecosystems, the water cycle, and cycles of matter, circling back to human actions and how they affect these different systems. And finally, we'll discuss our earth's atmosphere, air pollution, and things we can do to help keep our air clean. The earth is an amazing planet to learn, explore, and understand in greater detail to help preserve it's unique features for generations to come.
